Abby Schwartz, Principal
Abby Schwartz brings over thirty years of creative experience and leadership to the firm of Abby Schwartz Associates, LLC. After a decade of employment at several prestigious architecture firms in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Abby started her own business in 1992, focusing on residential additions and renovations. As the firm grew from a one-woman entity to a thriving small practice, its scope of work broadened to include larger and more varied projects. Through her role as principal of a steadily maturing organization, she has been featured in multiple publications and is honored to be a President of the Pennsylvania Council of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA).

lily Meier, Architect
Lily is the project manager at ASA and is involved with all aspects of the projects, from initial client meetings, through design, documentation and construction. “I love the collaborative nature that a small firm brings, as well as the familiarity and bond it allows us to build with our clients and projects,” she says.
On weekends, you can find Lily working as a collage artist. Her recent projects include a series of street art and large-scale wall coverings for an apartment building. Lily also spends her free time mentoring girls and teens through Camp Sojourner, a leadership program based in Philadelphia.
TRACEY SLOAN, director of operations
Tracey joined Abby Schwartz Associates in May of 2018. She is responsible for Human Resources, Payroll, Invoicing clients and making sure the office runs smoothly! She came to us from the Investment Management industry, having previously worked at LPL Financial, ING Variable Annuities and OppenheimerFunds in NYC.
Since moving to the Mainline 20 years ago, Tracey has been an active member of the community, volunteering for her neighborhood civic association and at her children’s schools. Over the years, she has run both school and neighborhood events. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Tracey lives in Wayne with her husband, Jeff, their three sons and Black Lab, Bailey.
CATHERINE SPENCE-GODIN, DESIGN ASSOCIATE & OFFICE ASSISTANT
As Design Associate, Catherine provides support to both the Architectural and Interior Design departments at Abby Schwartz Associates. She is also responsible for managing our social media platforms and handling administrative tasks. The firm’s collaborative mentality is what initially drew her to ASA. “The benefit of working at a small firm like this one, is that you get to be involved with each phase of design, which constantly exposes you to new areas of growth and knowledge. It’s a really enriching environment to be in,” she says.
While out of the office, Catherine enjoys spending her free time traveling, developing a yoga practice, and working on her art. She uses a variety of media, which include ceramics, drawing and painting.
Amina Hovey, Director of Design
As Director of Design, Amina’s creativity impacts both the Architectural and Interior Design process within ASA, where she has been working for 18 years. Her strength of character and open communication style have furthered the evolution of the firm. Amina holds a critical position of importance at the firm and is involved in all aspects of management and business development. Her favorite part of the design process is encountering challenges within a project and brainstorming unique design solutions that meet each client’s individualized needs.
Outside of work, Amina is a spin instructor at her neighborhood Y. She also spends her weekends at music venues with her husband, as well as hiking local trails with her children and their dog, Maybe.
Jennifer arnott, interiors manager
A critical member of the Abby Schwartz Associates team, Jennifer uses her organizational and communication skills to coordinate the purchasing and installation of materials and furnishings with ASA designers, clients, and product vendors. Jennifer’s detail-oriented approach and strategic input contribute to the success of every project… and the sanity of our team!
According to Jennifer, the best part of the job is install day, of course! “I love honing in on a client’s likes and dislikes to develop a design that fits their taste, while educating them along the way”, she says. Jen explains that her personal style has evolved throughout the years, from traditional to more transitional recently, when she and her husband renovated their home 7 years ago. When she isn’t working, Jen prioritizes her family, volunteers at her children’s schools, and is involved in several organizations. In her free time, Jen loves to cook and of course, decorate
Daria Surowiak, Executive Assistant
Having previously worked for fifteen years in the commercial interior design field as a space planner as well as a project manager for an office furniture dealership, Daria is currently involved with both the administrative and design aspects of the company. As Abby’s assistant, she creates proposals, connects with our clients by phone, and takes care of daily office needs along with selecting paint, tile, and other design elements for our kitchen and bath clients. Daria has a love for color, fabrics, textures and materials and enjoys the process of blending those together to create a dynamic interior space, unique to the client.
In her free time, Daria loves to dance. She fell in love with Latin dance while on vacation in the Dominican Republic a year ago. On the weekends, you can find her taking as many lessons as possible all over Philadelphia and working at her local church, mentoring women escaping abusive relationships.
